A Plagiarized Poem Written By President Lincoln Amidst Joshua Speed Reverie, or: A Poem about Daffodils for Our National Bard.

I wander'd lonely as a cloud

That floats on high o'er Illinois and hills,

When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the ticket booth, next to the General Store, beneath the trees,
Idling and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the street lights that will shine

And twinkle on the Milky Way Highway,
They stretch'd in ending line
Along the entrance of a lad:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in teenage dance.

The adults beside them danced; but hey

Out-did the sparkling wine in glee:
A poet could not but be gay.
In such a jocund company:
I dazed -- and gay -- but little thought
What wealth the young to me had brought:

For oft, when on my young lad I lie

In vacant or in pensive mood,
Brimming flesh fast upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
