Vela Phelan- real art, real craft

I've just been turned on to this artist by my buddy Mantangler who owns a couple of his pieces (I got to play with decorative boxes full of broken glass and idols!). I hope some of you will check his stuff out, it might raise morale. It is in the same family as the art of Lisa Rybovich Cralle, (which, I have to say in lieu of a full articulated review at least for right now, also kicks ass).
