The image above is made entirely of vegetables. (There's more here.)
I've read the poem below for several years at the Welsch Family thanksgivings, as a sort of secular blessing, & I will read it today. Happy Thanks!
The earth, that is sufficient,
I do not want the constellations any nearer,
I know they are very well where they are.
-Walt Whitman, Song of the Open Road (1892)

happy thanksgiving, friends. I am most very much entirely thankful for all of you...and may the blessings of our friendships continue for many years to come. Did I ever tell you that I memorized song of the open road and did a recitation of it at my highschool graduation? which was particularly good since it was at a very un-whitmanian private girls prep school, and it includes the admonishment to "let the school stand, mind not the cry of the teacher, let the preacher preach in the pulpit, the lawyer plead in the court, and the judge expound the law...". I'm sure Dewayne Slightweight remembers, since it was the same ceremony at which Dewayne made me runner-up for the drama prize. haha.
Good god,
&,
great poem to memorize dude.
